Frida Sidik is a mangrove ecologist with main interests in mangrove ecology, mangrove conservation and restoration and blue carbon. She is currently with the Research Centre for Oceanography, National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) - Indonesia. In her early career at the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries - Indonesia, she developed a mangrove station as open-air laboratory for mangrove restoration in Bali. Her work in Bali has generated many international research networks and publications, including her role as book editor of Dynamic Sedimentary Environments of Mangrove Coasts and the contributor of IUCN Red List of Ecosystems, Mangroves of the Sunda Shelf, the Western of Coral Triangle and the Java Transitional regions. She worked closely with policy makers and scientists to promote blue carbon science – policy interaction in Indonesia during her time as Fellow for Climate Change of the US – ASEAN Science and Technology Fellowships and PI of USAID PEER Science: Evidence to Action. Her active engagement in mangrove and blue carbon fora includes Global Ocean Decade Programme for Blue Carbon (GO-BC), International Partnership for Blue Carbon (IPBC), Global Mangrove Alliance (GMA), IUCN Mangrove Specialist for Southeast Asia region and Blue Carbon Specialist Group for Coral Triangle Initiative (CTI) Climate Change Adaptation Working Group. Frida had BSc from the University of Sydney, Australia and majored in Ecosystem Analysis and Governance for her MSc at the University of Warwick, United Kingdom. She completed her PhD degree in Marine Science and was appointed as the Adjunct Fellow at the University of Queensland, Australia.
